Story of Soumya’s Little Moppet !!
Hello,
Happy Birthday !!! I was happy to receive this email from you and knowing that you have turned 1….! It felt special because in another 2 months even I’m going to turn 1 as a mommy. Another special news, tomorrow Nov 17th, the world premie day – very special for me because my little moppet was born 33rd week..
She was 2.1 at birth and 1.9 when I took her home wrapped in a pink teddy print blanket after 4 days at the NICU.. Struggle began with poor lactation, lil one unable to nurse, fear of infection etc etc.. But we were a strong team – me & lil Anvika was determined to overcome challenges thrown at us.. We drank formula, gained steady weight, we learnt to nurse, we nursed and nursed to ensure good supply, we then moved to exclusive breast feeding within 40days from delivery.
Her granny and grandpa was my SWAT cats team. They supported me through my postpartum condition. Not to forget the new daddy who was ignored by all, including me.. My husband was my silent backbone doing everything to ensure our well being.
4 months passed by quickly and during one of the appointments, her paediatrician gave a go ahead for semi solids. Typically we started with home made Ragi. I was browsing the internet for more recipes is when I happen to see your website. I register and go through the write ups. There was an instant connection- mommy to mommy connection. Reading through your blogs, I could see a mommy, a doctor and not an entrepreneur.
My first order – Sathumavvu.. it was an instant hit with my lil one. She loved the taste, texture and I was happy about her subsequent weight gain(premie mommies are obsessed with weight!!). Raw banana powder was another wonderful weight gaining and equally yummy food option. So with little moppet backing me up, I never introduced processed tin food like cerelac to Anvika until she was 7 months old. Cerelac was given for the ease of travelling only because she was not impressed with instant Dalia Moongdal mix.
Even now I continue to give her Saathumaavu once in while even though I have moved to solid foods since 8th month.
Little moppet has played a vital role during a very confusing, tiring phase of being a new mommy. After initial use, I was convinced and eventually confident that Anvika is getting good nutrition.
Thank you Hema and team for being my unseen pillar of strength.. May you continue to thrive and achieve more heights, which you will because so many tiny humans are smiling with full tummy of yummy little moppet foods. 🙂
Love
Soumya Sreekumar
